Dr. Hochstein received her dental degree from the
University of Connecticut and her Masters of Library Science from
the University of Pittsburgh. She maintained a private dental practice
in Pittsburgh, and served as clinical instructor at the University
of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
She came to the National Library of Medicine
via the Library's Associates Program, which offers its participants experience in many of the concepts,
skills, and technologies that are shaping the future of the information
fields, allows them to explore the need for and application of research
and development activities in providing biomedical information services
to health professions and encourages them to examine current issues
and trends affecting the information fields.
Dr. Hochstein served for six years as a technical information specialist
in NLM's National Network Office, where
she worked with other NLM staff on the development of web-based
DOCLINE, the Electronic Fund Transfer
System (EFTS), and issues related to network
membership and the NN/LM. She is currently a technical
Information specialist in NLM's Division of Specialized Information Services (SIS), Biomedical Information Services
Branch (BISB), which is responsible for information resources and
services in toxicology, environmental health, and chemistry. |
